Over the last few years, I have picked up some stuff to help with my YouTube studio and office. I want to up my game and make my life much easier—that is the theory.
Start with Office
One thing I picked up is a desk mount plug. Talked about that here
I picked this up on Amazon. I needed more power that was easy to access and looked good. This plug is an under-the-desk-mount plug, but I didn’t want to have it under the desk. I just didn’t have the means to put it under the desk.
I do have one issue with this plug. The USB ports don’t work once you unplug the cable from the device and plug it back in. You have to unplug the cable from the plug and then plug it in again. That is a pain in the butt. But that is why I am using this for the lamp.
Desk Lamp
I needed some more light on my desk. I wanted to do the following at my desk.
- Read at my desk
- See better for projects
- Eyes getting bad
- Better lighting for my YouTube videos
- You know, for close-up videos of items
This is what it looks like
USB-C powers it, and I have it plugged into a plug adapter.
This is due to the USB-C port not powering it after turning it off.
The lamp has the following:
- Different brightness settings
- Timer, 40 minutes
- Reading light
- Warm and cold settings
I mounted this to the desk via command strips. I just wanted it to stay still and not move. I didn’t like the wall to get messed up, and that is where I wanted it for the most part. I would like it to move around, but it is fine. It is what it is.

Chalk Board
I picked up these chalkboards for my YouTube channels. To advertise my channel names.
One of the strings broke, and I need to fix it, like many things.
Two are double-sided, and I can have something else on the back. But I don’t at this time. I’m not sure what to put on it at this time.

The middle one was a gift.
YouTube Studio
Now that I want to build a makeshift YouTube studio because my wife took my office, here is the post and the video.
I needed some better or more lighting. To make good videos. Well, that might be a good part of it. You have to be good at doing videos. But it is a work in progress. I picked up the following:
It came in a pack of three. I have one in my office and two downstairs for lighting.
They come with some defusers and in many different colors. I am still deciding which color looks the best, but it is all a work in progress, right?
Desk
The desk was my son’s; he got a new one, and I just took it over.
It comes with USB lights. I had a different way of setting up the studio, but I changed it around.
I have some more room this way. I am still working on it. Like everything, it is a work in progress.
All of These Things
It helps me out, and I like the route I am going down. I am trying to make things functional for my needs at this time. Will this make me a better YouTuber? Probably not, but it is a start, right, and that is all that matters.
