Apple Creator Studio: The “Adobe Killer” Has Arrived

Well, Apple did something that I thought they would never do. That is moving to a subscription version for content creation.

Late to the Game

Now I am a bit late to the game here, but it is what it is. I have been thinking about whether I should do a video like this and talk about software on my gadget website. But software could be considered a good gadget. Because it’s something you use to create things, let’s talk about this new thing that Apple put together.

Apple Creator Studio

Apple released the Creator Studio on January 13, 2026. Yeah, I am behind the times, but it is OK. So what is the content studio, exactly? It is a subscription-based bundle of Apple’s Pro and Creative apps. This is a groundbreaking package. Featuring some of the top apps from Apple.

Like the following apps:

iPad and Mac apps

  • Final Cut Pro
  • Logic Pro
  • Pixelmator Pro

Mac Only

  • Motion
  • Compressor
  • MainStage

Bonus Features (across Mac, iPad, and iPhone

  • Intelligent AI features for Keynote, Pages, and Numbers
  • Premium content via a content hub for templates and assets
  • Smart features for Freeform (coming at some point)

Now you are thinking, wait, aren’t Keynote, Pages, Numbers, and Freeform free? Well, yes, they are, they are indeed free. They have enhanced features in the software that go beyond the free stuff. They have premium templates.

How Much

The thing on everyone’s mind is how much this will cost per month. Well, here is the breakdown.

PlanPrice
Monthly$12.99
Annual$129
Education
Student/Teachers$2.99/$29.99
Free Trial1 month

The great thing about this subscription is that, since it is with Apple, you can share it with up to six family members through iCloud Family Sharing, which is nice if you have some creative family members. Good price.

Is it Worth it?

Before this happened, there were some standalone apps. Let’s look at the price of those.

  • Final Cut Pro
    • $299.99
  • Logic Pro
    • $199.99
  • Pixelmator Pro
    • $49.99
  • Motion
    • $49.99
  • Compressor
    • $49.99
  • MainStage
    • $29.99

If you add that up, it is about $680 in purchases. This is like paying the annual subscription price for 5 years.

I would buy the standalone version of Final Cut Pro because it offers a 3-month free trial.

If you are using an iPad, it would cost you a $9.98 month to use this, and if you paid just $3 more, you would be able to get the whole studio.

They do have a bunch of AI capabilities baked into the apps, particularly Final Cut Pro. Apple is leaning into its Apple Intelligence framework to offer smarter editing tools and other options.

Thoughts

I will be doing a breakdown of my thoughts on using this studio. So far, I like Final Cut Pro.

Next Week

I will be talking about picking an iPad.
