The 64GB Ceiling: Why My 2023 iPad is Failing Me in 2026

I picked up an iPad back in 2023, and I thought I didn’t need a big hard drive since everything would be in the cloud. But that was a mistake.

iPad

You can check out this blog right here. Yes, it is a 64GB. But I was stupid and picked up one that is low on the hard drive side of things. Don’t get me wrong, this will be a good iPad for the common person. You know one who does the following:

  • Surfs the web
  • Scrolls social Media
  • Watches YouTube videos
  • Email

The 64GB model will go far for you, but for a power user, well, it isn’t enough.

Power User

Am I a power user? That is the question to ask. Some might not say I am, but in my mind, I am a power user. I use this all the time and for a lot of things. But the 64GB iPad is getting a bit too small for me.

I use it for the following:

  • Email
  • Writing
  • Learning
  • YouTube
  • Designing
    • Keynote
    • Canva
  • Planning
  • Excel
  • Calendaring
  • Notes
  • Reminders

But with the limited space, I can’t really put it to use the way I want to.

Wish I could use iMovie or Final Cut Pro on it.

Issues

I have a limited number of apps downloaded. But I still run out of space. Like take Feb. 7, 2026. I had the iOS 26 update to install, but I didn’t have enough room. I mean. I don’t have any social media apps. Just the standard apps I need.

I needed at least 17GB of space to install the update. I had 12 GB free. So I started to offload apps. I use all the apps all the time. I had to offload a lot of apps to install this update.

That is the problem I have. I know it isn’t a big issue, but still, it is an issue.
