How does lighting affect your desk? How does lighting affect your work? Well, lighting does affect your mood, your workflow. Let’s talk about what my lighting is all about.
Yes, I have talked about these before, but bear with me.
Mood
Did you know that lighting can affect your mood? Yes, it can, depending on the settings and when you use them.
Setting the mood.
Office Lights
My office has one leading light in it, which is the overhead light. Now I might need to get something cool like this, I mean, this is a fan as well

But right now it is just this

That doesn’t have any cool features. However, it is controlled by Kasa’s smart switch.
I added the following lights to the office:
Lamp
This is sitting on my Cario cabinet. It is controlled via a Kasa wireless bulb and connected to my Kasa app. It can be any color. I have it turned on at certain times of the day, depending on what is happening. Most of the time, it turns on after sunset and adds light to the office.
Since this is in my line of sight, I have the light come on to remind me to do something, such as when the doorbell rings.

Coke Lamp
This sits in the corner of the office, and it, too, has a Kasa Wireless bulb in it. So, it is just like the one above. I only have this come on after dark and shut off at a particular time. It comes on at a specific time in the morning and shuts off after sunrise.
Since my office has two big windows, I don’t need this during the day.

Star wars
This is just a light connected via USB to a power supply that only turns on when you push a button. It usually adds accent light to some of my YouTube videos. However, I enjoy having it on at night.

Accent Light
I’m not sure what to call this light. However, it is from a tripod set that I got to help light YouTube videos. I just put this one in my office to help light up my videos when I film in my office.
I have a blue light filter on it, as blue is the go-to color.

Here are the different types of filters that I can use

Desk
Now, my desk didn’t have any lighting—I know, bummer. However, I have added some lighting to it, making it nice and relaxing. When you don’t want the overhead light on, I can turn these on, and they do have some brightness to them. With the monitors turned on, it does give good light, but this light adds additional light. Some have effects, like lighting and spooky haunted house effects.
I got this on Amazon, which has some features that help out.

Under the desk lighting, I got an LED strip and talked about it here. It connects to my Kasa App, and I can control it via the app or automatically. Depending on what mode I have it on, this LED light can make it a good work environment.

I can change the lights for
- For the season
- Pick a favorite light color
- It does come with some presets

Does it set the Mood
The question you are probably asking yourself. Justin, does this really help set the mood?
That is a good question.
- Depends on the mood you would like to set.
- Depends on the time of year as well.
The lights don’t really set my mood. However, they can help me wind down at night or remind me to do things.
Lights can have a good effect on you and help you every day.
