Back in 2020, I was looking for another video camera. The one I had was dying, and I wanted something that could record my voice and video. What did I pick up?
GoPro
I was thinking maybe a GoPro, but I didn’t want to spend that much on an action camera, so I got something different.
Osmo
I got an Osmo Pocket, which is the original one.

This was something different, and I thought it was pretty cool. I took it on a cruise to the Eastern Caribbean and used it to film the ship and other things.
I used this quite a bit for the first bit, but it wasn’t what I sought.
It does have an external mic, but it isn’t the best. You can hook up an external mic to this, but you must have an adapter. Yeah, and an adapter. It was fine if I didn’t take it anywhere unless it was on a Tripod. One of the issues was that you couldn’t use the wireless adapter if you had a microphone plugged in.
The tracking system wasn’t all that great, and it would lose me. I would have to stay right in front of the camera, which defeated the purpose of having a camera on a gimbal.
This is a good idea, and it was a neat camera. But I hardly use it anymore.
Yes, my Osmo Action 4 isn’t on a gimbal and can’t follow me around. But it does what I need to do. The pocket is suitable for sitting on my desk and filming.
I don’t use it anymore due to its lack of features and the ability to Bluetooth a mic to do audio.
Next Week
I will be talking about the travel cord organizers I use when traveling.
