Why This ‘Ancient’ Technology Still Beats Your Smartphone in 2025 (Retro Tech Review)

With all the technology that better our lives, how would a retro gadget work in 2025? So what did I use?

The gadget I am talking about is pretty simple: a notebook. Yes, just a simple notebook.

Yes, this is just a simple little notebook. But what appeal does this notebook have?

Notebook

I mean, it is just filled with paper. Yes, just paper. I love the feel of the paper against my hand as I write, the smell, and how it feels when I write on it. I use a pen, but I would love to use a pencil; however, keeping it sharp is more complicated than it looks.

It is easier to carry around. It will never run out of power while you are writing. You might run out of paper or ink.

Plus, it is much easier to write in a notebook in most places. Sometimes writing on an iPad or a phone is nice and convenient, but it isn’t ideal. The notebook is easier. You can jot down some thoughts, highlights, and so forth.

Technology

Yes, using technology is a good thing and useful. But going old school is a nice change of pace. I wouldn’t write a whole blog post in the notebook. I would have to type it all out again. But I could do highlights or lowlights of the day. I could do an outline for a blog and then break that down on the iPad or MacBook.

Technology isn’t everything; you can get along without technology, and things will be fine.
