I need something that will help me film with my Osmo Action 4 while out and about. What did I pick up?
But First
I have an Osmo Action 4

And yes, I have a cage on it. It is a small rig cage.

Yes, it is metal and magnetic.

So I could hook it to metal surfaces.
But I need something different. So, I thought.
Magnetic Universal
The extension bracket is what I picked up.

It is a unique little bracket designed to help mount the Osmo Action in places with metal. Yes, this is a Magnetic mount, and it needs to go on something metal.
So the instructions state the following:
- Take out the Action universal magnetic mount and align the camera interface with the mount’s buckle. Press it into the camera, which can be installed in either orientation.
- Attach the magnetic plate to the desired shooting location, then adjust the angle of the rotating linkage for shooting.
So basically easy to use.
Real World
I tried to use this mount without the cage on it
Would only do the vertical orientation. See above
But I found it was too heavy and wouldn’t sit just right.
So I took the cage off and
I tried this a couple of different ways, and it just didn’t sit right.

Now, the best way to do this is to take the camera out of the cage and mount it.

I don’t like that, as it leaves the camera unprotected in case of a drop. No one wants to have a broken action camera.
You can use this on top of a tripod. It does have a 1/4″ thread, so that I could mount it that way as well

But I would mount it to another magnetic mount.

My Thoughts
Well, I was expecting something else. But it works just like it is supposed to. I wish it would work with the cage and the camera. But it is what it is. It works like it should with the camera, bare and naked.
It is a nice little addition. I will have to play with it some more and run more tests. So look for some good old videos using this mount.
