This is the day that everyone has been waiting for. My review of the Osmo Action 6. So let’s jump into it.
Osmo Action Family
Here is the lineup of the Osmo Action Family models I have had over the years
Osmo Action 1 (April 7, 2021, and ran $199) came with the Froggi Extreme Sport Action Camera Accessory set + a 3 GBGB microSD Card.

Osmo Action 4 (February 28, 2024, and ran $339). It came with 3 batteries.

Osmo Action 6 ( Jan.19, 2026 and ran $39)

Osmo Action 6
This is the sixth version of the action camera, and it has changed over time. They weren’t the first in the market, but they have made a statement in the action camera market.
This is the first camera by DJI that has a variable aperture of f/2.0 [1]f4.0. So it is pretty nice. It has 50 GB of internal storage, which is a bonus. I have forgotten my card a few times, and this is a handy thing.
What it came with
Here is what it came with
- Camera
- Extension rod
- Two GoPro mounts
- Battery case and two batteries

My Thoughts
My first thoughts on this were, is this any different than the Osmo 4? Just different packaging and no case, but as I got playing with it, I kept liking it more and more.
- The internal storage is a lifesaver.
- Left my card plugged into my MacBook at home.
- Wireless mic system capabilities.
- I can use my DJI Mic Mini with it.
- It can connect 2 without an issue. However, I haven’t tried more.
- It goes up to 8K filming
- Used it once
- Film on 2.7K at the moment
- It is nice, but a lot of streaming services handle 1080p
- Super night mode
- It is a game-changer. It works really well with a little light
- However, it doesn’t work in the pitch black.
- Rock steady is good
- I really haven’t put it through the wringer yet. But so far so good.
Here are some cons
- Came with no cage
- Which is fine, but still.
- The new filming mode is to be used across all platforms.
- Still working on this issue. My editing skills are improving.
- GoPro mounts that aren’t functional
- Only two batteries
- Why Ship with a 3-battery charging case and only charge one at a time?
Things I picked up to help out
- Functional GoPro mounts
- Extra batteries
- Yes, they are compatible with the Action 4 batteries. But I wanted to keep those separate.
- Case.
- Yes, you need to protect your investment.

Would I recommend it
It is a good camera, I am glad I picked it up. The super night mode is a must-have. It works really well and enhances my filming abilities. I don’t need to carry this light around

I still do, but I don’t need it.
It does have the fancy new filming mode. It is nice but I am finding it hard to edit with.
But if this is the first time you are picking up a camera. Yes, I would say pick this up.
If you are going from Action 4, it has some things I would say, “yes, pick it up.”
If you are going from Action 1, then yes, upgrade.
If you’re going from Action 2 or 3, I don’t have those, but the six will give you a lot more options.
I don’t have a five. But that is up to you.
It is a good camera. Just wish it came with a few different things.
Next Week
I will be talking about the real-world use of the Mic Mini Wireless kit.
