So I picked this up thinking I would use it all the time. I have used it. But not a lot, let’s talk about it.
DJI Mic Receiver
This little device helps with the distance between the mic and the camera. But is it really practical for use with the mic? I don’t use it that way for filming, anyway. So this is an interesting thing. It is like an Osmo Action Original Mic; you stick it in, and away you go.
Osmo Action 4
This is the best camera for this to be used on, well, for me it is. Why is that? Well, I have a Small Rig case which was built to house something like this. So it is nice. It will connect up to 2 devices, so that’s nice.
Cannon
This is the one use I have when I am filming in my basement YouTube studio. This is nice, and I can use the mini mic, so it isn’t that noticeable. It can also connect 2 devices.
Osmo 6
This works great, without the case on it. Yes, it won’t work with my case on it. But with Action 6, you can connect up to four mics. Now I haven’t tried that because I don’t have four mics. But it sounds nice. Maybe one day.
Outdoor Testing
They say that this device can go up to 400 meters (1312 ft), but it didn’t quite work that well. I made a video of that, and it’s down below.
I had my son ride a bike away from the camera, and you couldn’t hear anything as his back was to the receiver. However, the mic connection dropped as he went out of sight. He turned around at the 1312-ft mark. Well, I hope he did. I couldn’t see him.
You could hear him as he got to about
You can hear him talking about the Utah Jazz and BYU Basketball.
In theory, I will never be that far from the camera. But it was a good test.
So that was on my Canon.
Now on to my Osmo 4, it works really great. It fits there, and I don’t have to worry about the mic connection going in and out. You know the Bluetooth connection. It fits in pretty well and looks sleek.

Osmo 6
It works well, without the case, as I mentioned above. But I don’t really like to film without the case. But it works well.
Iphone
Yeah, it works with my iPhone, and you can use the native camera, which is nice. At the same time, the mic mini has to use a 3rd app.
Took it
I took this into a store to see how it would work. It works pretty well. I had a strong connection. I mean, people do look at you oddly when you are talking to yourself. But in this day and age, it is normal, since many people are content creators or want to be.
I used it in my backyard, and it worked well. The receiver’s gain is nice so that you can adjust both mics’ gain at once.
Recommend it
It all depends on your use. If you want to connect up to 4 devices, then yeah, go ahead and get it. I only paid $49 for it. That is how much I paid for the other mic mini.
I can’t really say I wholeheartedly say yes, go out and get one. This is a personal choice, I will use it with my Canon. But I won’t use it with my Action 6. Maybe if I had a different case, I might use it more. However, it is what it is.
Personally, I can’t say go out and get one for my own use. You could benefit from this. For me, it will work well with my Canon.
Next Week
I will venture into some software. I will be touching on Apple Content Studio.
