Last week’s post was all about the new DJI Osmo Action 6 camera. However, DJI didn’t include a cage for the Osmo Action 6 because of its custom image sensor, so I had to find a new one.
Why You Need a Cage
The Osmo Action 4 cage will not fit the Action 6, so a new one was necessary. Now, technically, you don’t need one — but you really should get one to protect your camera. It’s an expensive piece of equipment, after all. Another reason a cage is essential: the camera lacks a built-in cold shoe mount, so the cage solves that problem, too.
Choosing the Right Cage
I looked at several options for Action 6. My first choice was the SmallRig cage — I love the one I have for my Action 4, so I was naturally drawn to their version for the Action 6.

However, I ran into a small issue with the magnetic mount. See the bottom of the photo above.
So I passed on that one.
The Cage I Went With

I ended up going with the Flymile Action 6 Camera Cage for the DJI Osmo Action 6. It’s a metal frame with a silicone lens cap, and it includes:
- Cold Shoe mount
- 1/4″ Thread Adapter
- Aluminum Alloy Quick Release mount
It came in at $35.00 on Amazon. You can find it here: Flymile Action 6 Camera Cage
